Today, we celebrate Dame Agatha’s 125th birthday! I started reading her novels late last year and ever since then I was hooked. The way she writes and makes plot twists on her novels is what I love about her. Her writings style is also good considering that it was written in the earlier years although some of her novels, especially when you read her Hercule Poirot books, there are sometimes a few french words that you’ll be encountering. But nonetheless, her writing is easy to understand.

So in honor of Dame Agatha’s birthday, I will recommend my Top 5 Books by the Queen of Mystery! If you haven’t read any of Agatha’s maybe you should start with these!

2. Murder on The Orient Express

Another one of my favorites!

Just after midnight, a snowdrift stopped the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train was surprisingly full for the time of the year. But by the morning there was one passenger fewer. A passenger lay dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside.

This book had a major plot twist in the end that made me dumbfounded and made me question myself why I didn’t see that coming. This follows Michael Starkwedder when he enters the home of the Warwicks through a window in the study. He finds the dead body of Richard Warwick, and finds Warwick’s wife, Laura, holding a gun that supposedly killed him. Despite the murder being obvious, and overwhelming evidence pointing towards it, Starkwedder does not believe she killed him, and she soon tells him she’s innocent.

My favorite character from Agatha Christie’s novels are Miss Marple. I just love how she solves crime and I get this very cute visual of her as a grandmother who looks so sweet but kicks butts in the inside. These compilation of Miss Marple’s short stories are great for those who are just starting to read Agatha’s work. 72603-add-to-goodreads-button
