Penguin’s Little Black Classics

Last June, my boyfriend bought me 11 little black classic novels for my birthday (he also bought me 3 other books which you could see on my ig account). It was priced at 70php each and when you have a Fullybooked discount card you get 10% off them. If you want to purchase your own Little Black Classic novels you could head on over to the nearest Fullybooked near you. I suggest you go to their main branch which is located at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig if you would like to purchase the whole set.

So these are my LBC’s. The branch we went to doesn’t have them in order so I chose the numbers which are closer together. (FYI. There are 80 LBC’s so it’s kinda pricey when you buy them all together so maybe you could settle for 10 books per month if you plan to collect them.)

FullSizeRender copyThese are the titles that I got:

02 – As kingfishers catch fire by Gerard Manley Hopkins, 03 – The Saga of Gunnlaug Serpent-tongue by Anon, 07 – Wailing Ghosts by Pu Songling, 08 – A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift, 13 – The Eve of St Agnes by John Keats, 16 – Travels in the Land of Serpents and Pearls by Marco Polo, 17 – Caligula by Suetonius, 18 – Jason and Medea by Apollonius of Rhodes, 19 – Olalla by Robert Louis Stevenson, 20 – The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx & Friedrich Engels, 68 – The Robber Bridegroom by Brothers Grimm

24874331My favorite as of this time is No.3 The Saga of Gunnlaug Serpent-tongue by Anonymous.

Here is a short synopsis of this book:

In this epic tale from the Viking Age that ranges across Scandinavia and Viking Britain, two poets compete for the love of Helga the Fair – with fatal consequences.

ISBN13: 9780141397863

Genre: Classic, Fiction, Short Stories, Poetry

If you guys want diversity on your reading list go on and pick up these Little Black Classics! They are very cheap and you have 80 titles to choose from. We all need at least one classic book in our lives anyway. πŸ™‚ And if you liked your first classic don’t hesitate to buy another one! I for one plan to buy all 80 of them this year maybe I can complete them when MIBF (Manila International Book Fair) opens in September. If ever you’re coming let’s meet up there!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Cheers!

  1. I’m slowly collecting all of them as well! It’s a great way to get a bit of a diverse range of classics, though some have been amazing, others have been a little disappointing for me personally.
